Park-like Luxury and Mediterranean Revival Architecture

The City of Coral Gables was designed to be more than just a residential Miami suburb. It was crafted by George Merrick in the image of parklike luxury, and throughout its history and development, the city has managed to preserve a true sense of tranquility, prestige, and exclusivity. From the sprawling estates of Mediterranean Revival architecture around the historic Biltmore Hotel area, to the winding tree-lined streets to the bustling shopping and restaurant districts, Coral Gables is truly a separate world of upscale living. With a strong economy that’s home to both local and international business, Coral Gables has become a major employment center in the Miami area, yet it has not lost the quiet and classic charm that sets it apart from the bustling business of Downtown. Coral Gables also features the upscale waterfront areas of Cocoplum, Gables Estates and Old Cutler Bay which feature some of the most expensive single family homes in the county.

Resident Interview

Joe Adler

Joe Adler doesn’t settle. Year after year, the award-winning Producing Artistic Director of GableStage has selected and mounted seasons of provocative, edgy, up-to-the- minute plays to challenge and inspire his South Florida audience. Where other regional theatres might shy away from intense material, Adler has risked it to offer a more sophisticated fare and it has paid off. With 55 Carbonell awards (a Carbonell is our South Florida version of an Obie Award) and 187 nominations, Adler is a respected titan of the South Florida theatre community. It only makes sense that after 17 years at GableStage in the historic Biltmore Hotel, Adler has been asked to head the new Coconut Grove Playhouse.
